Remanufactured & Combo Pallets

Pure salvage is cheap but inconsistent; new is consistent but costs more. Remanufactured pallets take the best of both — the reclaimed wood of salvage, rebuilt to the repeatable dimensions of new. For internal handling and much regional distribution, they are often the best value.

They are ideal for closed-loop internal moves, regional outbound where units may not return, and any operation that wants a standard size without paying new-wood prices. Most of their material is reclaimed, too.

The process starts with the boards and stringers recovered when used pallets are dismantled during recycling. Recyclers de-nail each piece, sorts it by length and condition, and sets aside the sound lumber. Cracked, soft, or badly split pieces are pulled out and diverted to grinding, so only structurally good wood goes into a rebuild.

Those recovered members are then assembled onto a fixture cut to the target footprint. Because the builder sets the layout, a remanufactured pallet can hit a specific size, deck coverage, and stringer count rather than accepting whatever a used pallet happened to be. The finished unit is essentially a made-to-order pallet built almost entirely from wood that already existed.

This is why a combo pallet is more consistent than raw salvage. It is not a random used unit; it is a deliberately assembled one, built to your dimensions from inspected components.

The 48x40 footprint is the most requested, but because remanufactured pallets are built to order, custom sizes are one of their real strengths. If your product needs a 45x48, a 44x44, or an odd footprint that used stock never supplies cleanly, a rebuild is often the easiest way to get it.

Load capacity depends on the board thickness, stringer height, and how many members go into the build. A standard remanufactured 48x40 handles typical distribution loads; heavier configurations with thicker or additional members carry more. Include your load weight and how the pallet is stored in your request.

Against raw salvage, a remanufactured pallet trades a little cost for a lot of consistency: you get a defined size and strength instead of a mixed pile. Against a repaired recycled pallet, it wins when you need a size or configuration that used stock cannot supply. Against new, it usually costs less and reuses existing wood while covering the same everyday duties.

The honest tradeoff is that a remanufactured pallet is not certified new lumber, so for strict export specs, automated lines with zero dimensional tolerance, or the heaviest loads, a new build may fit better. For most internal and regional work, though, the combo pallet is the value pick.

Remanufactured pallets reuse lumber that is already harvested, milled, and dried. That avoids cutting new wood for the pallet and keeps the material out of the grinder for another service life.
